Our first Senior Citizens Coffee Group session for 2016 was held on 21st February 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Howick Recreation Centre.
It was attended by 25 seniors.

We started with The tea / coffee session. After that we prayed for speedy recovery for Mana Vazifdar and mourned & prayed for Mrs. Rao (Ashish Mehta's mother). We then moved on to playing housie games which our seniors are sentimentally attached to and all winners were given away chocolates.
We also made them introduce themselves as there were few new comers.
Finally it was that time of the day when we wanted to celebrate the birthday of our seniors. We celebrated birthdays of Noshir Elavia, Ketty Fitter, Dali Mehta, Silloo Tarapore, Mani Mowji and Rati Contractor. The birthday celebrations was by cutting the cake and eating it too.
Our volunteers from the community were.... Anaheeta Sethna, Minoo Siganporia, Pervin Contractor, Roshni Daruwalla and Tanaz Naoroji. Benifer Irani, Daliah Kermani and Faranak Kabir were from ZANZ Committee.

Our second Senior Citizens’ Coffee Group session for 2016 was held on 13thMarch 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Howick Recreation Centre.

34 aprah wallah Seniors were systematically picked up by our devoted Volunteers from their home around 9:30 a.m. The day started with chai / coffee was freshly brewed by our Chaiwalli Chef, Anaheeta Sethna who always make with love, concoction and warmth. Nan Khatia biscuits were served with gupsup going on with their seniors’ friends.

The Volunteers then gathered the Seniors to be taken to a picnic spot at Musick Point, where they played a game in circle where the middle person says something which in turn people who do not have needed to move and exchange places.... it was a fun game thorough enjoyed and made to play by Rohinton Fitter, our all time wanted volunteer.

The Seniors then were served with cold drinks and beer with wafers which some enjoyed sitting and chatting and others continued playing the circle game.

The Volunteers transported the Seniors back to Howick Recreation Centre where garam garam sponsored lunch was awaited for them.  The Seniors were served delicious Machi nah Curry rice, Margi papeto noh ras and kachumbar for Non-Vegetarians and Vegetable papeto nih Curry rice, Vegetable stew and kachumbar for Vegetarians.  The desert was Movenpick Coconut Chocolate Icecream and Dry fruits Fudge made by Faranak Kabir.  Sincere thanks to Maharukh and Hoshi Katki for sponsoring this luncheon which was scrumptiously enjoyed by all. 

We then moved on to playing all time favourite, housie games which our seniors get over excited to and all winners were given away chocolates.

Finally it was that time of the day when we wanted to celebrate March birthday celebrations by cutting the cake and eating it too.

ZANZ third Senior Citizens’ Coffee Group session for 2016 was held on 17th April 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12noon at Howick Recreation Centre. and it is the time to have HIGH TEA with apruh Parsi style ...... Khavanu, Peevanu aneh Housie ramvanu tej aprah wallah o Seniors nih majeh nih LIFE !!

29 Zarathushti Seniors were transported by Volunteers and as usual the day started with chai / coffee was freshly brewed by our Chaiwalli Chef, Anaheeta Sethna who always make with love, concoction and warmth. Sponsored High Tea was served with Sev, Dahi, Batata Vada and Jalebies.

Our sincere thanks to Vicky and Goolrukh Mistry for sponsoring this delicious High Tea which was happily enjoyed by all and thanked with warmness.

The “all-time favourite”, Housie game was played, which our seniors get over excited to win different games and lucky draw of their name which could earn them mouth melting chocolates.

Finally, ZANZ celebrated April born Seniors’ birthday (Perviz Driver, Perviz Mogrelia, Khorshed Sethna and Arnavaz Irani) by cutting the sponsored cake and eating it too.

Our Fourth Senior Citizens Coffee Group session for 2016 was held at Howick Recreation Centre from 10:00am to 12noon on 15th of May.

Twenty-six seniors graced the event.

Seniors were more than happy to come for these sessions and have a chat with others. The morning began with a round tea served with garma-garam Samosas (Veggie and Butter Chicken) and Wafers.  This was a treat by our Perin Daruwalla and Nargish Tata.

After the snacks we started the “ever in demand” games of housie.

We celebrated the birthdays of Ms.Perin Daruwalla, Ms. Mana Vazifdar & Ms. Nargish Tata by cutting the cake and Tehmurasp Vazifdar played mouth organ with the Happy Birthday tune (just love him for his lovely melodious tunes played on mouth organ and missed his darling wife, Mani Vazifdar).

Our volunteers from the community were.... Anaheeta Sethna, Roshni Daruwalla, Tanaz Naoroji, Minoo Siganporia, Zara Kotwal, Shazan Daruwalla and Hufriya Kermani.

Our Fifth Senior Citizens’ Coffee Group session was held at Howick Recreation Centre from 10:00am to 2.45 p.m. on 19th June 2016.

Thirty-Two seniors graced the event.

Seniors were more than happy to come and have gupsup with others. The morning began with a round coffee and chai served with khari biscuits.

After the snacks, we had planned to show the movie to the Seniors but the “ever in demand” aprih wallih Game of Housie was played and also Passing the Khari Biscuit Box Game was also played with forfeits.

Then the Seniors were served with scrumptious Luncheon by Adil and Veera Sarkari of Tandori Chicken Biryani for Non-Vegetarians and Tandori Vegetables Biryani for Vegetarians with Raita. To top up the desert was yummy Mango/Vanilla Ice cream.

We celebrated June birthday girl, Ms. Roshan Irani.

28 seniors attended this Coffee Group event.

Seniors enjoyed each others’ companionship and socialising. Loads of chit-chats with all their friends. The morning began with ginger/mint tea & coffee with kachori and mawa cakes sponsored by our senior Perin Daruwalla in memory of her beloved sister.

The much loved game of housie was played several times and one of our senior Aban Chinoy won the most amount of chocolates.

Tasty biryani was served for lunch which was sponsored by our senior Minoo Daruwalla followed by homemade black-forrest cake by his daughter-in-law. Ice-cream was sponsored by our senior Thrity Mistry & cold drinks by Faranak Kabir.

We celebrated the birthdays of Minoo Daruwalla, Katy Irani & Thrity Mistry.

Our volunteers for the day were Anaheeta Sethna, Rohinton Fitter, Navaz Engineer & Benifer Irani.

Faranak Kabir & Roshni Daruwalla were volunteers from the ZANZ Committee.

The morning started with the usual hot tea / coffee with cheesy biscuits followed by vasunu & chewdo sponsored by anonymous.

Many games of housie were played with chocolates given out as prizes.

The seniors stepped outside the hall in the lovely sunshine to play more games like musical arms, and "have & have not". Some who couldn't stand out, willingly played housie games again.

Lunch was served - mora dal chawal and kolmi no patio followed by sumptous gulab jamun topped with vanilla icecream. This was lovingly sponsored by Yasmin and Kersi Katki.

Saryas were also served, courtesy ZCT.

A game of passing the parcel was played and our winner was Perviz Driver.

At the end there was cake cutting to celebrate the birthdays of our seniors Perviz Daruwalla, Shirin Balsara, Homai Elavia, Yasmin Karani & Godrej Engineer. Only Perviz Daruwalla was present on the day.

We wrapped up the session with lots of bubbly chats and jokes.

The morning started with the usual hot phunina & ginger tea & coffee with salty/sweet biscuits

There was a “Tai-Chi” session organised for the seniors by Benifer.

Shamim, who very kindly, came to teach our seniors the various slow exercises that they can do at home, at any time of the day. This helps our seniors in keeping fit.

After the exercise session, the long awaited games of housie were played.

Delicious lunch was sponsored by two families who wish to remain anonymous. Mouth watering kheema pulao, masala ni dar, cashew chicken,

veg pulao & cashew paneer gravy followed by cake and ice-cream for dessert.

It was time for birthday cake cutting. We celebrated the birthday of our senior Zemina Irani, who also brought a cake for her lovely friends. Tehmurasp Vazifdar, once again, played the “happy birthday” song with the mouth-organ and all seniors tapped to the music. The day ended by 3pm.

Many thanks to Mahrukh and Tom Stazyk for hosting our group for the day.

Some seniors were picked up by our volunteers from their residence whereas some seniors came directly to the meeting point.

Six cars started off from Highland Park with 22 seniors. We reached just before mid-day and were welcomed with hot tea/coffee kindly organised by Mahrukh & Tom Stazyk.

Mahrukh S. gave us the history and overview of Cue Haven and showed us around the place explaining their objectives and achievements.

We had lunch which was kindly sponsored by Maharukh and Hosi Katki.

Everyone raved about the tasty spread which included kheema cutlets with lebanese bread, batata vada, chicken sandwiches, ham & cheese sandwiches & veg sandwiches topped up with chips & cold drinks.

Most of us went walking around enjoying the views and the lovely weather.

One of our senior planted a tree in memory of their beloved family member.

Mahrukh Stazyk had baked lovely chocolate cakes. We celebrated the birthdays of our seniors Godafrid Irani and Kersi Karkaria, but they were not present at the picnic.

We wrapped up the picnic with lots of bubbly chats and big thanks to Stazyk & Katki family and Minoo, Merzi, Tanaz, Benifer & Vahabiz who picked/dropped and drove our seniors to a memorable picnic.

This session ZANZ sponsored the lunch as a Christmas treat for the seniors. Numerous games of housie was played giving the seniors the pleasure of winning toffees. Our nightingales played extended game of antakshari. It was lovely to hear them sing to old and new songs.

This session’s hall charges and ice cream was sponsored by a family (anonymous) in remembrance of their beloved mother.

We celebrated the birthdays of our seniors’ Minoo Panveliwalla & Tehmurasp Vazifdar.
